First and foremost, I want to thank or beat up Jcarr for writing a post earlier reminding myself and all of Oppo it has been a whole year since I have been on here. Probably thank. So where has 505 been and what is cookin’? Around a year ago I got laid off from my high paying marketing gig. Should have known it was too good to be true but such is life. Not being much for being online I did not have a working computer online and mobile kinja sucked then, and I am going to see how much it sucks when I hit the post button. So after dubbing around with a few disheartening jobs to keep the bills paid, I am back to doing what I love, which is high end carpentry and historic preservation work. This being the gig requires me to be away from everything online that takes more than a few minutes. Again, thems what life throws at you, that is what you have to work with. Lost a few logins to email and such that I couldn’t remember but all is stable.

Okay onto the good stuff. We are still building up the coast. The main picture is what it looks like after a year of working every weekend I don’t have my kiddos or other obligations. The garage is still the Oppo garage as I said it would be in a post last year. Still have a few cars. Big Pink is out and driving, Goliath is still sitting waiting for me to finish the house. I sold my 505 and have had a range rover classic as a daily for the past year...kind of a record for me.

Anyhow, I am a bit late for another obligation bit wanted to say hi, maybe I will be around a bit here and there, but I was heartened to see a lot of the same crew on here as when I left. Thank you all, and I do miss you. When I have my house built and we are moved I will certainly be around a lot more.

Will do, it will really depend on his workload, he just started at an architecture firm and it sounds like he’s doing the hot and heavy workload right now.

The grind in this town is unreal at a lot of firms. And rent keeps skyrocketing so people take that crap. Hence me moving Downeast. I have about 50 vintage bikes I am going to rent to tourists who want to pedal around Acadia. That is more my speed!

Currently this town is making all the wrong moves. Awesome to visit, but to live is terrible. My girl and I are done. Living on the border of a national park on a dead end street is much better than living here to be like one of the characters in Disneyland. We built this town and the restaurants and culture over a decade. Now all people want to do is gawk and buy trinkets saying the were here. And I can’t get a cold beer in a can at a bar or a drink in a pint glass

These are family cars. I work on them and keep the dust off them. They will be in time with another 40-50 of them as well. The a truck is the nicest one but a lot of interesting stuff

My sympathies, a place I love from my childhood is going through the same thing right now: no stop lights but about 100 new homes built a year with a shopping complex coming soon

Hey man, nice to see you around. Didn’t know about the job loss but I’m stoked to hear you’ve landed happily on your feet doing something you enjoy and I’m sure are good at. Hard work beats desk work any day.

My sister and her fiance were just up around Portland briefly a few weeks ago on a whirlwind NE tour, they absolutely loved it there. Stoked to hear the new place is still coming together, I have every intention of drinking beer there someday. All the best!

Great place for bikes. Don’t spend the 30 bucks a day in town. Just go to my garage and grab a few cruisers from there. Free bus is at the end of the street to take you to the carriage trails in the park. Unless you need something with a bunch of gears! Are you camping? I also have a place on the water for you to stay in too. No plumbing but the camp showers are up the street. Dead serious. The camp is right in the park on private land!

Dead serious. I’ll steer you into both spots. I won’t be up those days until the weekend after but stay the whole time or a little. Just put a new mattress in there and stocked with firewood

Just find the bus that goes to the carriage roads. Those are bike, horse and pedestrian friendly with no cars, and a little lighter on the hills than the park loop road. If you do just want to grab some classic bikes look for walls street in otter creek. Go down the street till you see this yard, and go into the right side garage. There are 2 in there that work great, and the bus leaves the end of the street every half hour. Enjoy!!

Yup this is the yard you are looking for. The cabin is buried in the woods. If you want to try to find it go for it! Continue down the street till the end. Keep going on the path, take the first path on your left. Continue downhill till you hit a larger path, take another left onto that. Continue on past the wooden path sign that says “quarry trail”. That is the path you want to be on. Walk until you see a few pieces of split pink granite on your right with a path right past it. Take that down to the water. And enjoy! Total hike from my driveway to the cabin is 15 minutes or so. If you see anyone around say you know tim and sally
